Dancing by the Lake
Some love stories just glow—and Kim and Stephen’s is one of them.
After our last boudoir session, Kim whispered that she thought a proposal was coming… and that if it didn’t, she might just ask him herself. Spoiler alert: Stephen did pop the question, and of course she said yes!
Kim isn’t just a client—she’s a dear friend. We live in different states, but any excuse to head up to the Capital Territory to photograph her is a good one. Their engagement session by the shores of Lake Burley Griffin was nothing short of magic.
We timed the shoot so the bells of the National Carillon would be ringing gently in the background as they danced along the water’s edge. It was sweet, nostalgic, and uniquely them.
Stephen, who is on the spectrum, was understandably nervous about being photographed. It’s such a personal experience, and letting a stranger into that space can be daunting. But once I explained that I don’t do stiff poses—just gentle prompts and guidance—he relaxed into the moment beautifully. Within minutes, he was laughing and spinning Kim like a true pinup prince.
Speaking of pinup—Stephen has completely reignited Kim’s love for the vintage lifestyle, so it only made sense to bring that joy into the shoot. I’m sure we made a few joggers smile that day.
Chris and I are so excited for their wedding. Kim is a DIY queen, and knowing her, every detail is going to be completely magic.
