A rainbow love story
Some couples just radiate connection. Lisa and Andrew are one of those rare pairs who lock eyes and the whole world falls away. The way they finish each other’s sentences, the way they move together in total sync—it’s the kind of love that doesn’t just show up in photos, it leaps off the screen.
Chris and I were beyond honoured to capture their wedding day at Chateau Wyuna, a venue close to our hearts. Even better—we got to team up with our wedding soul sister Kylie from Side by Side Ceremonies. After so many weddings together, we barely need to speak on the day. We just know—when to pause, when to prompt, how to read the room—and most importantly, how to give our couples the most joyful, stress-free experience possible.
Lisa and Andrew first appeared in front of my lens as guests at a wedding we were photographing. I remember turning to Chris and saying, “Who is that?” Lisa’s smile lit up the entire space. Her energy, her curves, her spark—I was smitten. Not long after, she booked a boudoir session with me and absolutely owned it. After that, there was a couples session with Andrew … and not long after that, he proposed.
Their wedding was full of the details that make a day truly theirs. Lisa’s love of rainbows runs deep—it’s a family tradition—and the DIY bouquets were pure, colourful joy. Their attendants embraced the rainbow theme with flair, and the little flower girls and page boys? Too stinking cute for words.
The ceremony, led beautifully by Kylie, featured heartfelt vows and a creative handfasting that had every guest reaching for the tissues. Afterwards, we whisked the newlyweds away for a champagne spray (one of our favourite complimentary extras!) and then gave them a quiet moment together to soak it all in before heading into Chateau Wyuna’s famous log cabin for the reception.
Lisa’s love of music brought a special magic to the day. As an avid amateur singer, she was surrounded by friends from the theatrical world, many of whom sang during the ceremony—including the first dance, which was choreographed by the couple’s Bridesman. There was so much talent, so much love, and a celebration that was truly unforgettable. The dancefloor lit up and laughter filled the room long into the night, and Chris and I quietly slipped away, full of joy.
