Colour, culture and Celebration
Love doesn’t care where you’re from, what language you speak, or which traditions raised you. It just is. It crosses every boundary—colour, race, religion, sexuality. Love is universal, and it’s stronger than anything else.
Max, the proud son of a Greek family, and Priyancqa, who comes from a vibrant Malayalam Indian background, chose to celebrate both their spiritual and legal union in a deeply meaningful way. They were married at the Sri Vakrathunda Vinayagar Temple in The Basin—an incredible venue rich with devotion and history
Courtney, Chris and I felt genuinely honoured to be invited into this spiritual celebration. It’s not every day we get to witness such deep reverence woven together with joy, colour, laughter, and love.
One of the most beautiful parts of the day was seeing both families dive wholeheartedly into each other’s cultures. Max’s family came dressed in full traditional attire, embracing the rituals with open hearts. Priyancqa’s family were deeply involved too—her teenage brother in particular was thrilled to perform his ceremonial duty as foot washer before Max could enter the temple (especially once he learned Max was ticklish!).
Malayalam weddings are rich in symbolism. From hand-tied reed rings, to sacred chants, to blessings of food and flame—it’s all designed to honour the couple’s union and invite joy into their lives. The priests were kind enough to walk us through each moment, making sure even those unfamiliar with the customs felt welcome and included.
The entire ceremony was vibrant and alive. The temple echoed with music and mantras, and although it remained open for worship throughout, the wedding area was treated with such respect and reverence.
After the spiritual ceremony, Carmel from Pink Ceremonies stepped in to make the legal side official, dressed in her signature colour which fitted perfectly into the surroundings. She brought her usual warmth and spark, delivering words that were both meaningful and perfectly tailored to Max and Priyancqa’s unique love story. It’s always a joy working alongside Carmel—her energy is infectious and her commitment to inclusive ceremonies shines through every moment.
Days like this remind us why we do what we do. Having a professional photographer at your wedding isn’t just about pretty pictures—it’s about capturing every tiny gesture, every tear, every laugh, every detail of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You don’t get second chances with wedding photos.
If your love doesn’t fit into a box—and you want it captured with care, empathy and experience—we’re ready when you are.
