Maddi and Andrew are country through and through. High Country locals who love their land, their people, and the work hard, play hard rhythm of rural life. Andrew’s family home has stood the test of time — with their two young sons now the ninth generation to grow up there — so there was never any question about where they would marry. This place isn’t just home. It’s history.
With two little boys and a full country life, Maddi and Andrew knew their time was precious. Choosing Side by Side Weddings to take care of the ceremony styling, celebrant services, and the flow of the day meant they could focus on what mattered most — their family, their vows, and soaking it all in while we handled the rest.
Enhancing the view of the nearby Ovens river(never blocking it) for their ceremony was key. Our rust-coloured floral columns from The Styled Bouquet tied beautifully into Maddi’s colour palette, while shepherds hooks with lanterns lined the aisle for her walk down on her dad’s proud arm.
Andrew delivered the perfect crying groom moment. Kylie crafted a ceremony that had everyone laughing one second and wiping away tears the next. In true country style, the paperwork was signed on the bonnet of Andrew’s lovingly restored Holden, before cheers erupted at their first kiss.
Cars mattered here — deeply. The stunning blue 1960s Holden, once Andrew’s late brother’s pride and joy, ferried the boys through the paddock with ease… before laying down legendary burnouts on the private road to officially kick off the celebration.
And because it was a country wedding, the party did not disappoint. Fairy lights, and even the occasional raindrop not stopping the dancing well into the night — and rumour has it a few determined guests saw the sunrise before the music finally stopped.
