have you ever dreamed of just getting married??
One thing that the Covid lockdowns taught us was that marriage is more important than a big showy wedding. Family matters, love matters, getting married NOW matters. Small weddings and elopements are definitely on the rise, and that makes my heart sing.
This was definitely the case for Amelia and Ben. With a terminally ill parent, waiting for the big celebration simply wasn't an option. Love doesn't wait. Love finds a way. Love makes all things possible and beautiful.
A weekend in a gorgeous bed and breakfast near Ballarat, Victoria was decided upon, with an intimate, family affair to celebrate their love and their new life together. The important details were beautiful and meaningful, and let's face it, that's what love is all about, the details.
mother nature comes to the party
Driving up the freeway early in the morning, I was keeping a close eye on the weather, thank goodness for backup plans when you have an outdoor ceremony. There were lovely heavy clouds when I arrived ( I DO love the beautiful soft light they give), but we were all concerned that they would turn to rain, and sure enough, while photographing Amelia with her favourite childhood doll, we heard the patter of raindrops on the patio where the ceremony was set up.
The boys got into action and moved everything under cover without delay, a quick discussion was held and with the celebrant's blessing we decided to move forward as planned and see what happened.
With everyone holding their breath, a 5 minute wait resulted in the beautiful open air ceremony that Amela and Ben had dreamed of, and with their families watching, these two loved up awesome people became husband and wife.
an afternoon of joy and sunshine
As often happens, once the rain stops, the sun comes out to shine all over the place, and this was absolutely the case for Amelia and Ben. Deciding to get the formalities out of the way, the dancing started, with the father-daughter dance being Rocking All Over the World by Status Quo, and man, did those two cut a rug!
After posing with Amelia's brother's pride and joy Harley Davidson (especially shined for the day!) there was a lovely catered sit down lunch, then a relaxing afternoon of enjoying each other's company with their family only get together.
THANK YOU Amelia and Ben for allowing me to take part in your beautiful family day. I truly wish you all a life time of happily ever after in each other's arms.
