Some love stories are just meant to be.
Jessica and Steven’s began, like many great Aussie tales, at the pub. Steven was instantly smitten by Jess’s dance moves, and Jess couldn’t stop laughing at Steven’s jokes—which turned out to be very important. According to Steven, he only had three requirements for his future love: she had to laugh at his jokes, be shorter than him, and have a beautiful smile. Jess ticked all three boxes… and then some. That smile? It lit up the whole room.
After falling in love, the next chapter came naturally—they decided they were ready to grow their family. Welcoming a beautiful little boy was a whirlwind of love and learning, and just when they felt ready to plan their wedding, the pandemic had other ideas. A year’s delay, a reschedule, and then a surprise twist: they were expecting again! Jess walked down the aisle with a glowing baby bump and a full heart—what better way to celebrate love, family, and resilience all at once?
Their wedding at Chateau Wyuna, one of our favourite venues, was full of emotion and meaning. With their mothers walking their son down the aisle, and both Jess’s father and stepfather by her side, the ceremony was truly a family affair. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight. And while the weather brought a few showers, we say bring it on—umbrellas, a beautiful historic chapel, and a couple madly in love are all we need to create magic.
Jess and Steven had a clear vision for their wedding photography—classic, timeless black and white. It suited them perfectly. Stripping away the colour only brought more focus to the emotion: the way Steven looked at Jess, the shared laughter with their bridal party, the quiet moments between raindrops, and the joy of dancing with their little boy.
The food and service were incredible, as they always are at Chateau Wyuna. The team there is known for making guests feel cared for, and the warm, welcoming vibe of the historic chapel set the tone for the entire celebration. While the wedding party relaxed in the cosy Log Cabin, their friends and family came together for a night of hilarious and heartfelt speeches, followed by dancing that stretched into the small hours of the morning. The best part for Chris and I?? That tiny shoe on the top of the cake has been on every wedding cake in Jess's family for over 100 years.
It was a day filled with love, laughter, and legacy—and we’re so grateful we got to be part of it.
