Love, Faith and Family

Some love stories begin when you least expect them, and for Marisa and Charles, it all started with a simple click. Both well into their lives, with wisdom, family, and experience already gathered — it was technology that stepped in to play cupid. On the Catholic Singles dating site, they found not just companionship, but forever.

I first met Marisa when she walked her daughter Renee down the aisle to marry her soulmate, Brian (that beautiful day is just a few scrolls back on the blog). So when she called to tell me that she’d found her own soulmate and wanted us to capture her wedding day, my heart did a little happy leap. There’s no greater honour than being invited back into a family’s story — and that trust means the world to us.

Marisa and Charles chose intimacy over spectacle, and their wedding was a beautiful reminder that the most meaningful weddings are often the smallest ones — surrounded by the people who’ve shared in your life’s journey.

Spring can be a bit unpredictable, and while the clouds hovered gently over Eltham, the mood inside the church was one of warmth and reverence. Their wedding was woven into the Catholic Mass — a surprise and a gift for the guests, who were moved to tears as they watched two beautiful souls vow their love before family, friends, and faith.

The bridal party? Six radiant granddaughters, full of excitement and joy. Renee kept a watchful eye, ready to support but also be part of the fun. Marisa, glowing with grace and elegance, wore a soft apricot Zimmerman ensemble and carried a lush bouquet of white roses. Her son proudly walked her down the aisle to where Charles waited, suave and dashing in his deep royal blue bespoke suit — the perfect complement to his bride.

Their vows were touching. Their devotion, palpable. They even participated in the Eucharist, helping serve communion as they returned to the front pew — a powerful moment that spoke volumes about the love and values they share.

After the ceremony, we had the joy of capturing a few special portraits with a friend’s immaculate XY GT Falcon (yes, that kind of wedding!), before heading off to Fitzroy Gardens where the girls could run, play, and blow bubbles with wild joy.

The reception at Runnerup Rooftop Bar in Carlton was the perfect hidden rooftop gem — relaxed, stylish, and intimate. Heartfelt speeches brought tears, laughter, and memories. The cake was simple and sweet. And their first dance? Slow, romantic, and exactly right. No fuss. Just two people in love, surrounded by those who matter most.
