Some couples come to Side by Side Weddings knowing exactly what they want.
Others come to us because they’re exhausted by trying to hold everything together on their own.
Lucinda and Robbie were somewhere in the middle when we first met them at the Bendigo Wedding Expo, where we were spending the day alongside our wonderful florist friend Michelle from The Styled Bouquet. Lucinda had a clear vision for her wedding, and had already ordered her gorgeous flower bouquets with added butterflies from Michell, but the reality of coordinating multiple suppliers was quickly turning that dream into stress—and that’s where Side by Side stepped in.
Instead of handing her a list of things to organise, we took the weight off completely. We travelled out to her chosen ceremony location with her, walked the entire area together, and found the perfect spot that worked with her preferred midday timing. We looked for shade (a very wise decision, as it turned out), suggested décor that would suit the space beautifully, and handled all the permit paperwork and organisation so that everything was secure and sorted well before the day arrived.
And yes—the day was warm. The kind of warm where shade isn’t just nice, it’s essential. Lucinda and Robbie looked incredible in their outfits, and their guests—especially the grandparents—were deeply grateful for the cool, sheltered ceremony space that allowed everyone to stay present and comfortable.
One of the most meaningful moments came during the ceremony itself. Lucinda wanted to honour loved ones who were no longer with them, but without sadness. With an open flame unsuitable for the bush setting, Kylie created a bubble memorial instead. We provided bubble guns and wands, and the wedding party and family members gently blew bubbles into the air, each one filled with a memory and love. It was soft, joyful, and deeply moving—one of those moments that stays with you long after the day ends.
Like many weddings, things didn’t go perfectly—and that’s exactly why flexibility matters. Lucinda hadn’t had time to wear her shoes in beforehand, and by the end of the ceremony her feet were hurting badly. Rather than push through a long photo walk, we slowed everything down. Robbie comforted her between family photos, we captured a handful of intimate couple portraits right there, and Lucinda saved her energy for what mattered most: enjoying her first dance and reception at the nearby church hall.
That first dance was pure magic. Tender, emotional, and so full of love that there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
This is what we do. We adapt. We listen. We think on our feet. Because your wedding isn’t a production line—it’s a deeply personal, once-in-a-lifetime moment. And it deserves care, attention, and people who will always put you first.
