A day full of heart in our nation's capital
There are some clients who become friends… and then there’s Kim—who already was a friend before she ever stepped in front of my camera. My daughter introduced us while she was posted to the ACT, and the moment Kim and I met, we just clicked. Since then, I’ve had the joy of photographing Kim’s boudoir sessions more than once, sometimes travelling interstate just for the chance to catch up, laugh, and create something beautiful together. So when she told me she was engaged to her lovely Stephen, I was absolutely over the moon. Kim deserves every happiness this life can offer, and getting to photograph her wedding felt like the most natural—and emotional—full-circle moment.
Even before a date was set, Kim made use of our custom payment plans to lock in her photography, which meant she could focus on all the gorgeous Red, Black and white DIY details she’s so passionate about—without stressing about the big stuff.
We both knew this was going to be a celebration full of meaningful moments, so of course it made sense to bring along a second photographer (Chris was more than happy to make the trip with me!). They chose the beautiful Chapel at Gold Creek for their ceremony, a smart pick considering spring in Canberra can be a little unpredictable weather-wise. The chapel was glowing with love, and Kim’s three incredible children all had special roles to play. With a stylish ride from their friends at Silver Fern Limousines and a vibe that balanced elegance and warmth, the whole day felt so them—heartfelt, fun, and full of genuine connection.
After the ceremony, we made our way to the Senate Rose Gardens, a favourite ACT spot, for couple and bridal party portraits. Kim and Stephen’s crew was hilarious—we got all the romantic and emotional shots, but we also embraced the silliness (including a cheeky “B-double-E-double-R-U-N” moment for those in the know).
The reception was held at the gorgeous Mercure hotel in Ainslie, which we already adored for its Art Deco vibes from our very first boudoir session there. It turned out to be the perfect backdrop for an evening full of delicious food, emotional speeches, and celebration that didn’t miss a beat. From first kiss to first dance, every moment radiated joy, and I just know these two are headed for a lifetime of laughter and love.
