A Personal Project in Power & Play
Every now and then, a creative idea takes hold and refuses to let go—something bold, joyful, and entirely for the love of it. That’s what this project is for me. A celebration of women. Of drama. Of movement. Of being unapologetically seen. I’ve long dreamt of photographing incredible women in luxurious, Old Hollywood-style tulle gowns—placed in wild outdoor landscapes where softness meets strength. Sometimes, just for fun, I hand them a bunch of ridiculous oversized balloons, because what better way to say, “Here I am, world”?
This ongoing series is about visibility, power, and play. And it’s just getting started.
We chose the cedar forest at the National Arboretum for our shoot—majestic trees, sculptural backdrops, and sweeping views that stretch to the horizon. A storm was brewing, casting the most divine moody light across the hills, and we knew we were on borrowed time. But wow, did we make the most of it.
Kerry leaned into the experience like the goddess she is, her laughter echoing through the forest as the wind picked up and the sky darkened. We were sprinting for the car just as the heavens opened—raindrops crashing down like applause. (Pro tip: metallic balloons in a storm sound a lot like gunfire. It’s equal parts terrifying and hilarious.)
We wrapped up soaked, exhilarated, and absolutely glowing. Then we went home for green tea and an emotional scroll through the magic we’d created together.
This project is for every woman who’s ever dreamed of being seen in all her glory. Not as a mother, partner, boss, or caregiver—but as her fullest self. And if that sounds like something your soul is calling for, I want to hear from you.
