You’ve seen Andrea and Ingrid’s gorgeous summer engagement session on the beach, now it’s spring and the time has come for them to make their vows to each other.
For their wedding day, Andrea and Ingrid chose something beautifully simple, deeply meaningful, and perfectly them — a private civil ceremony at the Melbourne Registry Office, housed within the historic Old Treasury Building. With only their closest family present, their elopement-style wedding was intimate, intentional, and full of quiet joy.
Both Andrea and Ingrid were born overseas, but Melbourne is the city they now call home. It was important to them that their wedding photos reflected not just their love for each other, but their love for this city — the place where their lives have intertwined, grown, and settled. The Old Treasury Building was the perfect starting point: timeless architecture, grand lines, and that unmistakable sense of history that Melbourne wears so well.
Did Andrea and Ingrid choose to have only black and white photos? No. As always, they received their full gallery in both colour and black and white, with these images coming directly from their personal favourites. I chose to share the black and white moments here because the emotion in these images is undeniable — the connection, the laughter, the quiet in-between moments. Black and white also allows Melbourne’s architecture to shine, stripping everything back to feeling, form, and story in a way that feels timeless. While you can't see the colour in Andrea's gorgeous blue suit, perfectly tailored by Joseph from Tailor on the Road, you can absolutely see the quality and the style that went into making it perfect.
The love within this family was palpable and multiplied with every interaction. Family members happily took turns suggesting photo locations, each wanting to contribute to the memories being made. Andrea’s brother even attempted to convince me that the Lamborghini we “borrowed” for photos was actually his — an effort that had everyone laughing and added yet another layer of fun to an already joyful day.
One of my absolute highlights was the tram ride from the ceremony to the Carlton Gardens. There is something magical about watching commuters’ faces light up when a newly married couple boards the tram — the smiles, the congratulations, the shared happiness between strangers. You just know those people went home later and told their families about the gorgeous newlyweds they met on their ride that day.
This was only the beginning of Andrea and Ingrid’s wedding celebrations. Next month, we’ll be sharing their renewal of vows and a larger celebration with more family and friends — and I already know it’s going to be epic.
